Falling for his leading Ladies - Scarlett, Michelle and Clémence

– he keeps falling for his leading ladies , says his father Richard Redmayne, the managing director of stockbroker Seymour Pierce. Following an interlude with Scarlett Johansson after meeting on the set of The Other Boleyn Girl, Redmayne Junior then had a moment with Michelle Williams while making My Week With Marilyn – although Clemence Poesy, Redmayne’s co-lead in his most recent project, the film adaptation of Birdsong, was apparently immune to his charms. (x) That was before he started dating Hannah in 2012.

SCARLETT JOHANSSON (x)

Eddie Redmayne quotes:
- Scarlett is incredibly instinctive, beautifully smart and grown up. I couldn’t believe she was younger than me!...
Scarlett was my wife so it was the high point of my career. (x)
- [On kissing Scarlett Johansson in The Other Boleyn Girl] Together we had lips bigger than Christendom.
We didn’t even need to stand in the same room.(x)
- [Tony Awards 2010] When she won that first prize [of the evening], I couldn’t have been more elated. Given her extraordinary fame and talent on screen, one would presume that her Broadway debut would be a walk in the park. But she and I have shared so much excitement on this journey, because for both of us, doing a play on Broadway was the stuff that dreams are made of. She came and saw Red and we went out for dinner, and even then we had to pinch ourselves. (x)

Marilyn (as Elsie) said in My Week with Marilyn:
“You know what’s going to happen?
I’m going to fall in love with you,
because I always, always do.”
Eddie Redmayne on 'real treat' working with Michelle Williams on 'My Week with Marilyn' (with video)
"I've never seen someone with the dedication and really, really specific work on all fronts ... With both her and Kenneth Branagh, it was a real treat to get to witness that."
Eddie Redmayne, Star Of 'My Week With Marilyn' On Sharing A Fantasy With Michelle Williams

..."She doesn't have the same insecurities as Marilyn, but all actors have something. There's that scene in the dressing room when Kenneth Branagh as Olivier is trying to work out what is wrong with her. I say 'maybe she's scared, sir' and he blasts 'we're all scared, that's what we do' and I think that's true. You'd be hard-pushed to find an actor without some sense of nervousness, because we're all being scrutinised, and we want so hard to get it right."
..."I remember one time, Michelle came out into the long corridor at Pinewood, tottering just like Marilyn,
and I just thought 'oh my god'."

Clemence Poesy says Eddie Redmayne is the ''loveliest guy''.
While the French actress refused to confirm reports she is dating her 'Birdsong' co-star, Clemence did admit they are close but says she felt sorry for him when they were filming because he ''was stuck'' with her.
She said: ''How could you not enjoy working with Eddie? He's the loveliest guy. I felt a bit sorry for him though as when
I arrived on set, they'd just finished the war scenes. All the lads had left and he was left with this French girl.''
'Birdsong' Eddie Redmayne Q&A
"...We went out one night early on and got pretty pissed together - we went through our disastrous moments in various love lives, and it was quite a good way of getting to trust each other! When you're that exposed, basically spending quite a lot of time half-naked on top of each other, you need to have some trust!"There's a supermodel behind you! Venice Magazine Summer 2010 Rainer Hosch shot - article

ANOTHER KIND OF LEADING MAN -- Eddie Redmayne Is Not Your Typical Hero
Excerpts from the Venice Magazine Summer 2010 article (full article here
By Andrew Fish, photos by Rainer Hosch - 17th June 2010.
...I’ve been really, incredibly lucky to be generally employed pretty much since I started. It’s step by step, trying to mix theater with film and television, and what I love about it all is the variety of it. Whether that’s doing English- period dramas or playing an adopted Native American. I love the variety of the medium, whether it’s stage or film or TV, and also the lifestyle of where you’re living. Like at the moment I’m living in the East Village in New York in a wonderful apartment with a whole lot of paints and canvas and a guitar. I’ve been exploiting my three or four months here to live the clichéd East Village life. [laughs] It’s kind of great!

About his character Jack and the shooting of The Pillars of the Earth:
What I love about him — and actually why all the characters and the fabric of the piece works so well — is that they’re all flawed human beings. Jack is, maybe in some ways, the hero, but he does start mute. He’s woven into the story gently as he’s gaining confidence and passion, but he also retains his flaws throughout the piece, right up until the end. Whether it’s his ambition for his art or his family commitment, I think that tempestuous or wild quality that he has from the outset is something that I wanted to [bring out]. So I suppose what attracted me to the part was that he wasn’t your typical hero. He was flawed, he was eccentric in some ways, and that was kind of amazing because it’s rare that you get to read that sort of character. But also it was a massive challenge because, as I say, you were shooting for six months. At one in the morning you could be playing Jack when he’s 17 years old and then in the evening playing him when he’s 35 years old. [laughs] And you’ve got thousands of these scenes and you’ve got this wealth of material and you have to definitely be on your guard as to where, exactly, you are within the context of the story.

About how did he keep track of his character’s timeline:
... on “Pillars,” because it’s eight hours worth of material, I actually ended up being incredibly nerdy about it and having to make a massive timetable, or crib sheet, of every single scene in the piece. When it was shooting, how old the character was, and where it was so that I could jump in and out of it, because it was too large in scale to be able to do through instinct.
...In my trailer was this massive timeline of the guy’s journey. It was on several huge pieces of A3 paper and each scene that I did would get scribbled out. That’s how I would work out where things were going.
... it wasn’t quite color coordinated, although I am a huge fan of color coordination. [laughs]

About the characters he likes to play:
...I think your classic, straight-off, I suppose stereotyped leading man may not have the variety and the color that interests me so much, but I’m also sure that’s down to the way I look and the way I speak [laughs] — but certainly in things like The Yellow Handkerchief, those are parts where the audience doesn’t quite know what to make of someone. But fundamentally what I relate to [in pieces like] The Yellow Handkerchief and “Pillars” is this idea of someone whose heart is kind. And it’s interesting this idea of the flawed character who ultimately pulls through. [laughs]

...Do I feel a kinship? I suppose. Those are the characters that I find interesting. Those are the characters I want to watch, rather than them all being transparent and from the outset you know exactly where this person is going and what they’re doing. But whether I am that sort of person, I’m not sure. [laughs] I don’t think I could say.

Is he an awful dancer? Really? - The Miraculous Year

Maybe he's not a Fred Astaire, but not so bad (source sirredmayne)

Deadline Hollywood article By NELLIE ANDREEVA | Monday June 14, 2010
...Logan and Remayne’s collaboration appears headed to the small screen next: the young British actor is in talks
to play a lead in Logan’s drama pilot for HBO Miraculous Year, which is being directed by Oscar winner Kathryn Bigelow. ...Miraculous Year is described as an examination of a New York family as seen through the lens of Terry Segal (Norbert Leo Butz) a charismatic, self-destructive Broadway composer and lyricist.
...Redmayne would play a captivating and sexy singer/dancer in Terry’s new show who will come to play
a major part in Terry’s life. (He plays Terry's boyfriend - another gay role.)

Access Hollywood article, first published: August 27, 2010
...Eddie plays “a chorus boy,” as he puts it, for HBO’s “The Miraculous Year,” a series on the way from playwright
John Logan and Oscar winning director Kathryn Bigelow.

“It’s about this extraordinary, incredibly talented family, but what’s hilarious is [they] offered me this part — and
I think it’s got a wonderful arc — and when I accepted I was like, ‘Damn! Hell yeah! I’d love to be a part of that.’
And when I came to New York to start rehearsing, and even though I knew I’d been cast as a chorus boy dancer, like a part of my brain hadn’t connected the fact that I would have to actually dance,” Eddie explained. “I mean, I’ve never danced in my life, let alone tap danced.”
Trying new things though is something the talented actor seems to enjoy. Earlier this year, he took on Broadway’s tough audiences in “Red,” a play written by “Miraculous Year” writer John Logan. Thrilling the tough Broadway crowds led to the actor walking away with a Best Featured Actor Tony Award in June.
“It’s in my flat in London… I’ve got an apartment in London that I share with a couple of mates, and I have quite an amazing window with a view over the city of London in my bedroom and it’s sat there perching, overlooking the city of London,” Eddie said of where he keeps his award, later adding, “If it were a person, it has got the greatest view in the world.”

HBO decided in October 2010 not to go forward with the project
before the pilot even aired. Why?

HBO Rejects Broadway-Inspired Pilot The Miraculous Year, Starring Norbert Leo Butz
...The Miraculous Year was widely assumed to be based on the life of Stephen Sondheim, with whom Logan collaborated on the screen adaptation of Sweeney Todd. (After Sondheim made his displeasure known, certain biographical details were reportedly changed.)
In a recent Q&A with Broadway.com, cast member Patti LuPone described the show as being “about a very prominent arts family in New York. The father, Frank Langella is a famous painter. His son, Norbert Leo Butz, is a genius musical theater composer. His daughter, Hope Davis, is a corporate lawyer, married with two kids. That’s one story. The other story is Norbert’s theatrical life, and I’m his leading lady.”
In addition to Langella, Butz, LuPone and Davis, the cast of The Miraculous Year also included Tony winner Eddie Redmayne (Red), Linus Roache (now appearing off-Broadway in Middletown), American Idiot star Stark Sands and TV and Braodway vet Daniel Davis (The Nanny, La Cage aux Folles). Composer Adam Guettel (The Light in the Piazza), was reportedly on board to pen the music to The Miraculous Yea's show-within-a-show musical. Guest stars in the pilot included Susan Sarandon and Lee Pace.
Sources told Deadline.com that the appeal of the show was considered “too narrow.”

Update: Read more about the plot in the article here (via)

In this video list there are excerpts from interviews, videos and films of Eddie. In the first video
Eddie talks about dancing from 22:05 to 23:25. He's not in the last two. There's a video in which
the original Fijero, the two times Tony winner Norbert Leo Butz (who plays Terry in the pilot)
performs Dancing through life from  Wicked. The last is about the audition of Carlton Tanis for
the role of Tamil Lee, the only project related video I found on Youtube.

These photos were taken in the Montmartre Cemetery (Wikipedia). A popular tourist destination, it is the final resting place of many famous artists who lived and worked in the Montmartre area. Here are a few names: Hector Berlioz, Edgar Degas, Léo Delibes, William Didier-Pouget, Alexandre Dumas (fils), Heinrich Heine, Jacques Offenbach, Stendhal, François Truffaut, Horace Vernet, Émile Zola (only the grave).

Last year he was in Paris at the Les Mis Paris premiere on 6th February 2013. These are my favorite photos:
